CCPWD Grant Opportunity from the Office of Community and Rural Affairs (OCRA)
Support Hoosiers with disabilities in their aspirations to be successful and “to live and work in a safe, affordable and accessible environment.” The CCPWD grant opportunity encourages local units of government to develop innovative technology strategies and cultivate strong community partnerships to address the negative social, economic, and health effects of COVID-19 on Hoosiers with disabilities and to increase community and workplace inclusion for this population.
OCRA provided a Grant Opportunity to New Star who partnered with the Lake County Community Economic Development Department (LCCEDD) to benefit citizens in Lake County, IN with disabilities .
OCRA designated $110,000.00 (one hundred ten thousand dollars) in Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) funds to the LCCEDD and New Star partnership.
The Lake County Health Department supports the current CDC and Indiana Department of Health COVID control guidelines. We strongly recommend that all schools follow the masking, contact tracing and quarantining practices described in the guidelines.
Free COVID-19 testing at Polk Elementary School in Lake Station each Tuesday though Saturday from 8:00 AM - 4:00 PM.
The Lake County Health Department has been receiving complaints from parents of children attending schools within our jurisdiction concerning the quarantining of unmasked close contact children who have been exposed to children infected with the COVID virus.

The Connect to Possibilities program was designed to reach people with intellectual and developmental disabilities in Lake County that had become more isolated during the pandemic.
In accordance with Trial Rule 81 of the Indiana Court Rules, the Lake Circuit and Superior Courts hereby give notice to the bar and the public that the Courts propose to amend the Local Rules on June 1, 2022 for the courts of record of Lake County, effective January 1, 2023.
The Federal Government has provided Coronavirus Local Fiscal Recovery Funds (“Recovery Funds”) through the American Rescue Plan Act (“ARPA”) to provide relief to local governmental units as a result of the COVID-19 Pandemic. The U.S. Treasury Department (the “Treasury Department”) awarded Lake County, Indiana (the “County”) $94,301,324 in Recovery Funds (revised 5/18/2022)
The County will hold a second and final, Public Hearing on the 2022 Annual Action Plan on Friday, July 22nd, 2022. All residents of Urban Lake County are invited to attend and comment on the Plan. The hearing will be at 4:00 P.M. in the Lake County Community Development office (3rd Floor, RM A310), Lake County Government Center, 2293 North Main Street, Crown Point, IN 46307.
